LONDON - 25th Anniversary - 1997-2022

This seems to be the year of the anniversaries. And this one goes way back, 25 years to be exact.

In October 1997, I went to England for the first time and came back with a sackful of inspiration. London in particular made a big impression. So I hooked up a synth and created 7 different electronic soundscapes. By November, I had a mini-album, created some artwork and burned a couple of CD-Rs. One of those got a fantastic review from the electronic music website "E-lectric" back then.

London was re-released digitally for streaming and download services in 2017:

Have a look at the fancy trailer that tells the story, if you didn't already:

It's very different from the music I created with Slowtide, that's why I chose to re-release it under my real name, just like the original back then. And there's more music planned for the future from that direction...

Listen in on Spotify, and please follow me there, if you like.

Thank you!

🎉Slowtide - Solaria - 10th anniversary 🎂 - Aug 31st 2012 - 2022

CD / Digital / Streaming @ www.slowtide.com/solaria

Oh my, look how fast they've grown... Most of these songs were born in seminar rooms and lecture halls while studying at university in the naughties. While every course taken was a feast of pure entertainment and useful information, I somehow managed to find time to fill my notebook with music.

Partly inspired by the glorious work of genius Beach Boy Brian Wilson, I wrote songs and arrangements that were full of backing choirs, strings, brass, jangly guitars and pianos, while keeping the electronic and synth elements for which I'm known. Sun-drenched, upbeat songs on the outside - bitter, melancholic lyrics on the inside, that follow the theme of coping with loss and change on your own and seeking purpose and aim. The darkest hour may occur on the brightest summer day, I liked that ambivalence.

With no budget to speak of, all songs were recorded and mixed at home (again) and at a local rehearsal room. Well, except for the sound of waves, which was recorded at a beach of the Baltic Sea, for lack of waves and beaches in Bochum. Songs like Caroline, Aimless and California found their way into the playlists of quite a few radio stations back then, which felt great. The latter two received music videos, made with love, that you can watch on YouTube: www.youtube.com/slowtide (Like and subscribe appreciated ❤️)

"Solaria" remains very close to my heart, and I have fond memories creating it. Now might be a good time for everyone to discover or re-discover the album! 😊
